WEATHER!

The Costa de la Luz stretches stretches along Spain's West Atlantic coast from Tarifa to Cadiz - and as far as Huelva, (according to the tourist sites)El Sueño is located just under half-way between the large coastal surfing town of Tarifa to the South and the ancient seafaring city of Cadiz to the North - tucked into a protected valley by the sea between the hilltop 'white village' of Vejer del a Frontera and our local coastal fishing town of Barbate.

Therefore, our local weather & temperatures tend to fall somewhere between these two reference points - milder than Cadiz in Summer, while warmer and more sheltered from than Tarifa in the Winter.

Costa de la Luz - weather
Costa de la Luz is Spain's most southwesterly coast in the province of Andalucia, and translated from Spanish means ‘Coast of Light’ due to the bright sunshine the area is bathed in. The summer months are hot but not as intense as the Mediterranean can be, as gentle Atlantic breezes drift in to take the edge off the heat. Daytime temperatures during the summer months range from the mid 20s in May to the 30s in the hottest month of August. The temperatures in the evening will dip to around 15C to 20C so a summer Costa de la Luz holiday will always be warm.

Costa de la Luz weather - perfect beach and water sports
Sun worshipers will find the summer months in Costa de la Luz ideal for sunbathing and swimming in the warm waters. With over 300km of sunny coast from Tarifa to Ayamonte near the Portuguese border there is no shortage of hot, sandy beaches. July and August in Costa de la Luz provide around 12 hours of sunshine per day and the clear, warm waters are perfect for snorkeling or diving. The temperatures in April are still in the mid 20s, which is ideal for grabbing some sun during the Easter holidays.

Costa de la Luz weather - relaxing winter sun from October to May
Winters in Costa de la Luz are enjoyably mild with daily temperatures of around 20C and nights rarely dipping below 10C. There may be some rain in late September or early October, but it will never last for more than a day or two. The consistently warm winter climate and seven hours of sunshine per day are factors that draw the Spanish themselves to holiday in Costa de la Luz.  Combine the mild climate and the quieter beaches during the low season and you have the perfect makings for a relaxing winter sunshine holiday break.
